Services

Library services and programs serve as a yardstick for education and cultural development of the academic community. The services include the following:

I. Circulation Service

Library materials are borrowed and returned at the circulation desk during all hours of library operation. Staff are available to answer questions and help users locate books and other materials in the library including reserved books.

II. Reference Services

Library provides reference and referral service to its users. Reference assistance or instruction using the library, including locating materials, using the online public access catalog, using computers to access online resources, and using basic reference sources.Queries are answered using all possible sources.

III. Recommendation of Instructional materials

We welcome faculty, staff, students and other members of the academic community to recommend any material, which can add value to the library collection. Purchase of recommended items is subject to approval. However, the library tries its best to honor all recommendations of our valued library clients.

IV. Current Awareness Service

Library members are regularly informed about the recent acquisitions in the library. A list of new acquisitions is sent to the different departments by e-mail or posted at the bulletin board on regular basis for proper dissemination.

V. Photocopying Service

Photocopying is available within the library. Users can get the photocopy of required information from reference materials (like reference books, encyclopedias, dictionaries, journals and magazines etc.) on payment.

VI. Orientation and Information Literacy

The library's orientation and information program extends the role of library in ensuring that users maximize the use of library resources. The program is designed to educate the faculty members, students, and staff in locating printed and electronic resources to fulfill their information needs. This service is provided to individual and group of clients.

VII. Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI)

Keeping in view in area of interest of the academic community, selected materials are provided in order to keep them abreast of the latest information in their field.

VIII. Multimedia Section

is established and equipped with multimedia equipment and internet facilities. Equipment required for the use of different types resources (like CDs, DVDs, Audios, Videos, etc.) are available in this section so that users can have better access to information either electronic or in digital formats.Also,the staff extends help to the members of the academic community in using these resources.

IX. Technical Service

This service encompasses ordering and receiving materials, claiming receipts, classification, cataloging of materials and serials control. These are jobs done in the library to obtain and prepare library materials for use by the clients.

X. Periodical Service

Provides indexed articles to library clients.

XI. Internet service

a. Web access -the libraries provide access to the Internet is to give clients access to online information resource. Provision of the opportunity to ‘surf the net’ is the baseline network service.The services such as links to educational sites, downloading, filtering, assistance and training for users are provided.
b. Printing - Libraries charge for printing to cover the costs of paper and ink.
